DNS Lookup

DNS Lookup is a free tool that shows every common DNS record for a domain, with plain notes on who handles your email and whether SPF and DMARC protect you.

  • Free
  • No sign-up
  • Runs in your browser

DNS is your domain's address book: it tells browsers where your website lives and tells other email servers where to deliver your mail and which servers may send in your name. This lookup shows every common record โ€” A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS, TXT, SOA and CAA โ€” and explains what they mean in plain words: who handles your email, whether SPF and DMARC protect you from fake email, and where your DNS is managed. It runs entirely in your browser, so it is free and unlimited.

Guide

How to use it

  1. 1Type your domain name, such as sharmadental.in. A website or email address works too.
  2. 2Press Look up DNS. Your browser asks Cloudflare's public DNS directly โ€” nothing goes through our servers.
  3. 3Read the notes at the top first: they say who handles your email and whether anything is missing.
  4. 4Copy the records or download them as CSV to share with your developer or email provider.

What the results mean

A and AAAA records
The numeric address of the server your website is on. Without one, the domain does not open a website.
MX record
Where email for your domain is delivered โ€” for example Google Workspace or Zoho Mail.
SPF, DKIM and DMARC
Three records that prove your emails are really from you. Without them, your emails are more likely to land in spam and others can fake your address.
NS record
Which company manages your DNS settings. Any change to the other records is made in that company's panel.
TTL
How many seconds other computers may remember a record. After a change, it can take this long to update everywhere.

Common questions

Why can't you list my DKIM record?

DKIM keys are stored under a name your email service chooses, called a selector, and DNS has no way to list them. We try the common ones (Google, Microsoft, Zoho and others); if yours is not found, check the DKIM page in your email provider's admin panel.

I changed a record but it still shows the old value. Why?

DNS answers are remembered for the TTL shown next to each record. Wait that long โ€” usually minutes, sometimes a few hours โ€” and look again.

Is this lookup private?

Yes. The lookup goes from your browser straight to Cloudflare's public DNS resolver. The domain you type is never sent to Upgrowly.

Do I need a DMARC record for a small business?

If you send email from your domain, yes. Gmail and Yahoo now expect one. Start with p=none to watch, then move to p=quarantine once you are sure all your real email passes.
