No. A wa.me link works with any WhatsApp account. WhatsApp Business gives you a catalogue and away messages, which are useful, but the link works either way.
Does this cost anything or need an API?
No. wa.me is WhatsApp's own free link format. There is no API, no fee and no sign-up.
Why is my number not working in the link?
The number must be in full international form with no plus, spaces or dashes. We do that conversion for you — if it still fails, check the number is registered on WhatsApp.
