Internal Links & Orphan Pages Checker

Internal Link Checker is a free tool that maps how your pages link to each other, showing orphan pages no other page links to and pages too many clicks deep.

  • Free
  • No sign-up
  • Checks a live page

Google finds your pages, and decides which matter most, largely by following the links between them โ€” and so do your visitors. This checker starts at your home page and follows your menus and links through up to 25 pages (100 on a paid plan), then compares what it found with your sitemap. It shows how many clicks each page is from the home page, pages that nothing links to (orphans), pages with only one link, pages crowded with links, and which pages your site treats as most important โ€” with plain suggestions on what to change.

Your workspace

Each check uses one of your 3 site-wide checks a day (30 on a paid plan). A site checked in the last 1 hour is shown from memory for free. We identify ourselves as UpgrowlyBot and skip anything your robots.txt asks bots to leave alone.

Guide

How to use it

  1. 1Type your website address โ€” start from the home page.
  2. 2Press Map my internal links. We read your pages in small batches; you can watch the progress.
  3. 3Read What to do first: it lists the changes that matter most for your site.
  4. 4Check the orphan pages and the pages more than 3 clicks deep, and link the important ones from your home page, menu or main service pages.
  5. 5Download the CSV to share the full page list with whoever edits the website.

What the results mean

Internal link
A link from one page of your website to another page of the same website.
Orphan page
A page that no other page links to. It may be in your sitemap, but people cannot reach it by clicking.
Click depth
How many clicks it takes to reach a page from the home page. Fewer is better for important pages.
Sitemap
A file (usually sitemap.xml) listing your website's pages, so Google knows they exist.

Common questions

Why does click depth matter?

Google gives more attention to pages close to the home page, and visitors rarely click more than two or three times to find something. Your key service pages should be one or two clicks from home.

Is an orphan page always a problem?

Not always โ€” a thank-you page or an old offer may be meant to be hidden. But if a page should bring customers from Google, it needs links to it from your other pages.

Why only 25 pages?

The check runs on our free servers in small steps so it never overloads your website or our limits. Twenty-five pages covers most small business websites; paid plans read up to 100.

Some of my links are missing. Why?

We read the links in each page's HTML. Menus built only with JavaScript, links to files such as PDFs, and addresses with ? in them are not followed.
