Open Graph Checker
Open Graph Checker is a free tool that shows how your link will look on WhatsApp and Facebook, and tells you in plain words what to fix.
- Free
- No sign-up
- Checks a live page
When someone shares your link on WhatsApp, Facebook or LinkedIn, the picture and text that appear come from Open Graph tags. Without them the link shows as bare text, and almost nobody taps bare text. This draws the preview people will see, checks that the picture actually loads, and checks that the title and description are not cut off.

How to use it
- 1Paste the page address and press Check this page.
- 2Look at the preview: that is roughly what people see when the link is shared.
- 3Read the checks under it. A missing or broken picture is the one to fix first โ it is the difference between a link people tap and one they scroll past.
- 4Use our Meta Tag Generator to produce the tags, then give them to whoever manages the site.
Common questions
Why does my link look plain when shared on WhatsApp?
Almost always a missing og:image, or an image that is too large or blocked. WhatsApp also caches aggressively, so after fixing the tags the old preview can persist for a while.
What size should the share image be?
1200 by 630 pixels works everywhere. Keep it under about 300 KB as a JPG โ WhatsApp often skips bigger pictures, and Facebook refuses anything over 8 MB.
Do I need Twitter tags as well?
Usually not. X falls back to your Open Graph tags when Twitter-specific ones are absent, so getting Open Graph right covers most cases.
