Image Compressor & WebP Converter

Upgrowly's free Image Compressor shrinks up to 30 photos, converts them to WebP or JPEG, renames them for Google and writes alt text, all inside your browser.

  • Runs in your browser

Big phone photos make a website slow, and a slow website loses customers and ranks lower on Google. Drop in up to 30 images and this tool shrinks them to a sensible width, turns them into light WebP or JPEG files, renames them with your keyword and city, and writes alt text for each one. Your photos are processed on your own device and never uploaded.

Your workspace

Your images never leave your device. Everything happens inside your browser โ€” nothing is uploaded.

Guide

How to use it

  1. 1Drop your photos into the box or choose them from your phone or computer.
  2. 2Pick the largest width, the file type and the quality.
  3. 3Type your main keyword, business name and city to build file names and alt text.
  4. 4Check the sizes and alt texts, then download the new images and copy the HTML.

What the results mean

Alt text
A short description of a photo, hidden in your website's code. Google reads it to understand the picture, and screen readers read it aloud to people who cannot see it.
WebP
A modern image format that is usually far smaller than JPEG at the same quality. Every current browser shows it.
File name
A name like dentist-jaipur-1.webp tells Google what the photo shows. IMG_2034.jpg tells it nothing.
Lazy loading
A small setting that tells the browser to load an image only when the visitor scrolls near it, so the top of the page opens faster.

Common questions

Are my photos uploaded to your server?

No. Everything happens inside your browser on your own device. Your photos are never uploaded, so it also works for private or unreleased pictures.

Why can't it open my iPhone photos?

iPhones save photos as HEIC, which most browsers cannot open. Set your camera to Most Compatible in Settings, or send the photo to yourself on WhatsApp first โ€” it arrives as a JPG.

What width should I choose?

1200 pixels is right for most photos on a small business website. Choose 1600 or 1920 only for full-width banners at the top of a page.

Why did one image get bigger?

Some images are already well compressed, or are simple graphics that suit PNG better. If a new file is bigger than the original, just keep using the original for that one.
