Site-wide Broken Link Checker
Site-wide Broken Link Checker is a free tool that reads up to 25 pages of your website, checks every link on them and lists each broken link with its page.
- Free
- No sign-up
- Checks a live page
Broken links creep in as pages are renamed, products sold out and other websites close. Each one is a dead end for a customer and a small sign to Google that the site is not looked after. This checker reads up to 25 pages of a website, collects every link on them โ to your own pages and to other sites โ and checks each one, following redirects to see where it really ends up. You get the broken links with the exact pages they appear on, the links that should be updated to a new address, and a CSV of everything.

What the results mean
- Broken link
- A link that leads to an error, such as 404 Page not found, or to a website that no longer opens.
- Redirect
- An address that automatically sends visitors on to another one. It works, but each hop adds a little waiting time.
- Redirect chain
- Several redirects in a row. They slow pages down and Google may stop following them part way.
- Internal and external links
- Internal links go to other pages of your own website; external links go to other websites, such as suppliers or social media.
Common questions
How is this different from the Broken Link Checker?
The Broken Link Checker looks at one page and up to 40 of its links, instantly. This tool reads up to 25 pages of the site and checks up to 300 different links, and tells you every page each broken link appears on.
Why only 25 pages?
The check runs on our free servers in small steps so it never overloads your website or our limits. Twenty-five pages covers the whole of most small business websites; for bigger sites it covers the pages linked from the home page first, which matter most.
A link shows 'Refused us' but works when I click it. Why?
Some websites, especially large ones, block automated checkers. That link is probably fine โ the result only means the other site would not answer our checker.
Do you check links to Google or LinkedIn?
No. We never send automated requests to Google or LinkedIn, so those links are marked Not checked.
