Prospect Finder

Prospect Finder is a free tool for SEO freelancers that checks a list of local business websites, ranks them by problems found and writes a pitch for each.

  • Free
  • No sign-up
  • Checks a live page

Finding clients is the hardest part of freelance SEO. Paste a list of local businesses โ€” from a directory, a spreadsheet or your own notes โ€” and this tool checks each home page, ranks them by how much there is to fix, and writes a short, specific pitch for each one. Every pitch names real problems we found on their site, in words a shop owner understands, so your first message is useful rather than another generic offer.

Guide

How to use it

  1. 1Paste up to 50 businesses, one per line: website first or anywhere in the row, with the business name and phone number if you have them. You can also upload a CSV.
  2. 2Add your name or agency, a one-line offer if you like, and choose WhatsApp or email style.
  3. 3Press Check. We look at each home page, two at a time, and you can watch the list fill in or stop at any point.
  4. 4Start with the prospects at the top โ€” they have the most problems that cost them customers. Open a row to read, copy or send the pitch.
  5. 5Download everything as a CSV for your records, or turn a prospect into a full report with your logo.

What the results mean

Opportunity score
How much there is to fix and sell, from 0 to 100. It is higher when a site has several problems that lose customers and are quick to fix, such as not working on phones or having no tap-to-call number.
Site score
The same score out of 100 our free website audit gives, but for the home page only. A low score usually means a warmer lead.
Sites we could not check
The site did not load, was too slow, or asks automated visitors to stay away. A site that does not load for us may not load for customers either, which is worth a call in itself.
Checks left today
Each website checked for the first time today uses one of your daily checks. A site anyone checked in the last 24 hours is free, so running the same list again costs nothing.

Common questions

Where do I find businesses to put on the list?

From places you already use: your city's business directories, the shops on your street, clients' suppliers, or your own contacts. Copy the website addresses into a spreadsheet and paste them here. We only ever check the websites you give us.

Why are Google and LinkedIn links skipped?

We never send automated requests to Google or LinkedIn, as a matter of policy. Social media and directory pages are skipped too, because they are not the business's own website and there is nothing on them for you to fix.

How many websites can I check a day?

Twenty new websites a day for free, and two hundred a day with a Starter or Agency plan. Sites checked by anyone in the last 24 hours do not count. The limit keeps this tool free to run for everyone.

Is it all right to message businesses like this?

A short, specific, polite message to a business about its own website is normal practice. Send each one yourself, only once, and stop if they say no. Never send the same message in bulk โ€” WhatsApp may block your number.
