IndexNow Submitter

IndexNow Submitter is a free tool that tells Bing, Yandex and other search engines the moment you add or change a page, with the key file made for you.

  • Free
  • No sign-up
  • Checks a live page

When you add a new page or change an old one, search engines normally find out only when they next visit your website, which can take days or weeks. IndexNow is a free, open way to tell them straight away. This tool makes the key, gives you the small file to put on your website, checks it is in the right place and then sends your page addresses to Bing, Yandex, Naver, Seznam and Yep in one go. Google does not use IndexNow, so for Google you still need Search Console.

Your workspace

Step 1

Your website and your key

Step 2

Put the key file on your website

Search engines check that the website is yours by looking for a small text file on it. The file is named after your key and contains only your key.

Fill in your website address and key in step 1 first.

Where to upload it

The file must go in the main folder of your website (often called the root, public_html or www), not inside another folder.

  • WordPress or any website on normal hosting

Log in to your hosting account, open File Manager, go to the public_html folder (the one that contains wp-config.php on WordPress) and upload the file there. You can also upload it with an FTP program such as FileZilla, or ask whoever built your website: it takes them two minutes.

  • WordPress, the easier way

Instead of uploading a file, you can install an IndexNow plugin, or switch IndexNow on in your SEO plugin if it offers it. The plugin makes its own key and tells search engines about changes automatically, so you may not need this tool at all.

  • Wix, Shopify and other website builders

These platforms may not let you upload a file to the main folder, and without the file this tool cannot work for your website. Many such platforms already send IndexNow by themselves, so check your platform's settings or help pages before doing anything else.

Step 3

Paste the pages and submit

Fill in your website address and key in step 1 first.

Submissions left today: 2 of 2.

Submitting does not guarantee that a page will be shown in search results or rank higher. It only makes sure the search engines know the page exists or has changed.

Guide

How to use it

  1. 1Type your website address exactly as it opens in your browser, then press Make a key (or paste a key you already have).
  2. 2Download the key file and upload it to the main folder of your website. Press Check my key file to make sure it is in the right place.
  3. 3Paste the addresses of the pages that are new or changed, one per line, and press Submit to IndexNow.
  4. 4Read the result. Received means the search engines have been told. It does not mean the pages are already in search results.

What the results mean

IndexNow
A free, open system that lets a website tell search engines 'this page is new' or 'this page changed', instead of waiting for them to notice.
Key
A random code that you choose once and reuse. It is how search engines know the submission really comes from the website's owner.
Key file
A small text file named after your key that contains only your key. It sits in the main folder of your website so search engines can check the key is yours.
Indexed
A page is indexed when a search engine has read it and stored it, so it can appear in search results. Submitting a page asks for a visit. It does not promise the page will be indexed.

Common questions

Does Google use IndexNow?

No. Google does not take part in IndexNow, so submitting here does nothing for Google. To get your pages onto Google, add your website to Google Search Console, send your sitemap there and use its page inspection to ask for a page to be indexed.

Which search engines does IndexNow reach?

Bing, Yandex, Naver, Seznam and Yep take part, and a submission to IndexNow is passed to all of them. Bing is worth the few minutes this takes, partly because some AI search tools use Bing's results.

Will my page appear in search results after I submit it?

Not necessarily. Submitting only tells the search engines that the page exists or has changed. Each one then decides for itself whether to visit it, whether to store it and where to show it. A useful page with clear text is still what gets a page shown.

How often should I submit my pages?

Only when a page is new, has really changed or has been removed. Sending the same unchanged pages again and again does not help, and it can get your submissions refused for a while.

I use Wix or Shopify and cannot upload a file. What now?

Some website builders do not let you place a file in the main folder, and without that file this tool cannot work for your website. Many platforms already send IndexNow by themselves when you publish, so check your platform's settings or help pages first.

Is my key a secret, and do you keep it?

The key is not a password to your website. Anyone can read it in the key file, and all it allows is submitting addresses of your own website. We do not store it. It is remembered only in your own browser so you can reuse it next time.
