How to use it
- 1Fill in your business name and a single clear sentence about what you do.
- 2Add your city, phone, hours and the services you offer.
- 3List your most useful pages under Key pages, one per line, such as prices, booking and contact. The file links to them.
- 4Copy the generated file.
- 5Save it as llms.txt in the top folder of your site, so it loads at yoursite.com/llms.txt
Common questions
Does llms.txt actually do anything yet?
It is a proposed standard, not a guarantee. Support is growing but not universal. It costs ten minutes and a small text file, which is a reasonable bet on where things are heading.
Is this the same as robots.txt?
No. robots.txt says which pages a crawler may read. llms.txt describes what your business is, in plain language, for tools that answer questions about you.
Will this stop AI using my content?
No, the opposite. It helps AI describe your business correctly. To restrict AI crawlers, use robots.txt — though for a local business that usually works against you.
