What the results mean
- Quotation
- A written price for work before it starts. When the client signs it, both sides know exactly what was agreed. It is not a tax invoice.
- CGST, SGST and IGST
- The parts of GST. Within your own state it is split into CGST and SGST in equal halves; to a client in another state it is one IGST amount. The total is the same.
- Valid until
- The last date the prices hold. It stops a client accepting an old price months later.
- Round off
- The few paise added or taken away so the total is a whole rupee, as on most Indian bills.
Common questions
Do I have to charge GST on a quotation?
Only if you are registered for GST. If you are, show the GST the client will pay so there are no surprises on the invoice. If you are not registered, choose “No GST”.
Is the discount taken before or after GST?
Before. GST is charged on the price after the discount, which is what the client actually pays.
Can I turn the quote into an invoice?
Once the client accepts, use our GST Invoice Maker for the tax invoice. The quote itself is not an invoice.
