PageSpeed & Core Web Vitals Checker

Upgrowly's free PageSpeed Checker gets Google's phone and computer speed scores and Core Web Vitals for a page, with Google's fixes explained in plain words.

Most of your customers open your website on a phone, often on patchy 4G, and Google ranks faster sites higher. This checker asks Google's own speed test, PageSpeed Insights, to load your page on a phone and on a computer. You get both scores out of 100, the Core Web Vitals from real visitors using Chrome (when Google has enough of them), the time each loading step takes, a picture of what Google saw, and Google's suggested fixes explained in plain words โ€” biggest time saving first. If Google's test is busy, you still get our own estimate from the page's file sizes.

Guide

How to use it

  1. 1Type the address of the page you want to test โ€” your home page is a good start.
  2. 2Press Check. Google loads the page on a phone and a computer; this takes 20โ€“40 seconds.
  3. 3Read the phone score first: 90 or more is fast, 50โ€“89 needs work, under 50 is slow.
  4. 4Check the Core Web Vitals: these are the numbers Google uses when ranking pages.
  5. 5Work down the fixes from the top and hand them to whoever looks after your website, then test again.

What the results mean

PageSpeed score
Google's mark out of 100 for how quickly a page loads in a test. Phones are tested on a slow connection on purpose, so phone scores are usually lower.
Core Web Vitals
Three measures from real Chrome users: how fast the main content appears (LCP), how quickly the page reacts to a tap (INP), and how much it jumps around while loading (CLS). Google uses them in ranking.
Lab test
Google loading the page once, under fixed conditions. Useful for finding fixes, even for sites too small to have real-visitor numbers.
Render-blocking file
A script or style file the browser must finish downloading before it can show anything. Too many leave visitors staring at a blank screen.

Common questions

Is this the same as Google PageSpeed Insights?

Yes โ€” the scores, Core Web Vitals and suggestions come from PageSpeed Insights itself. We explain them in plain words and put the most useful fixes first.

Why is my phone score so much lower than my computer score?

Google tests the phone version on a deliberately slow phone and connection, like many real customers in India. A page that feels fine on office Wi-Fi can take several seconds on mobile data.

Why are there no real-visitor numbers for my site?

Google only shares them once enough Chrome users have visited in the last 28 days. Most small business sites do not have enough yet โ€” the lab test and its fixes are what to work from.

Why is there a daily limit?

Each test asks Google's free service to load your page twice, and that service has a daily allowance shared by all our visitors. Results are kept for a few hours, so testing the same page again soon is free. When the limit is reached we show our own estimate instead.

What score should I aim for?

90 or more on a phone is excellent, but few small business sites get there. Moving from under 50 to over 70 usually makes a real difference to how many visitors stay.
