Google Index Checker

The Google Index Checker is a free tool that asks your Search Console which of your pages Google has saved, with a plain reason for each page left out.

  • Free
  • Free account
  • Checks a live page

A page that Google has not saved cannot appear in search results at all, however good it is. This tool asks Google directly, through your own Search Console, whether each of your pages is in its index โ€” the list of pages Google can show. For every page that is missing you get the reason in plain words and what to do about it: a setting that hides the page, a broken address, a copy of another page, or simply a page Google has not reached yet. Paste your addresses or load them from your sitemap.

Your workspace

Read-only, and only your own sites

We ask Google for read-only permission. We can see the searches and pages from sites you have already verified in Google Search Console โ€” we cannot change anything in your account, and we never see other people's sites.

Guide

How to use it

  1. 1Sign in to Upgrowly (free) and connect Google Search Console with read-only access. If you already connected it for the Rankings tool, you are ready.
  2. 2Pick the website, then paste the page addresses you care about โ€” one per line โ€” or press Load from my sitemap.
  3. 3Press Check these pages. Each address shows In Google or Not in Google, with the reason and what to do.
  4. 4Fix the pages that matter most first, then download the CSV to keep a record or send it to your web developer.

What the results mean

In Google (indexed)
Google has saved the page and can show it in results. It says nothing about how high the page appears โ€” a page can be saved and still sit on page 5.
Google's last visit
The date Google last read the page (Google calls this crawling). Changes you made after that date are not reflected in the answer yet.
Address Google lists instead
When two of your pages are near-copies, Google picks one as the main address (the canonical) and lists only that one. This shows which it picked.
Sitemap
A file on your website, usually at /sitemap.xml, that lists the pages you want search engines to know about. Most website builders create it for you.

Common questions

My page is in Google. Why can't I find it when I search?

Being saved by Google and ranking well are two different things. An indexed page can appear far down the results for the words you tried. Use the Search Console Rankings tool to see which searches the page actually appears for and at what position.

I just fixed the page. Why does it still say not in Google?

This tool reports what Google saw on its last visit โ€” it does not test the live page. After a fix, open the page's report in Search Console and press Request indexing, then check again in a few days. We also keep each answer for six hours, so a repeat check within that time shows the saved copy.

Can I check a competitor's website or any address?

No. Google only answers this question for websites you have verified as yours in Search Console, and only for addresses inside the website you picked. We do not scrape Google's results to guess for other sites.

How many pages can I check?

The free plan checks up to 10 addresses at a time and 10 fresh checks a day; paid plans check up to 100 at a time and 500 a day. Pages you checked in the last six hours are shown from our saved copy and do not count. The limit resets at 5:30am IST.

Is every page that is not in Google a problem?

No. Old addresses that forward to a new page, filtered or printable copies, and pages you chose to hide (login, cart, thank-you pages) are meant to stay out. Worry about the pages you want customers to find: your home page, services, products and contact page.
